April Birthday Celebration and “Star Performance” Tribute
....elementary students recognized for birthdays and star performances!
April 30, 2008
On Wednesday, April 30, 2008, McAndrew Elementary students, faculty, and staff gathered in the hallway for an all-school assembly. First, everyone recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang two patriotic songs. Next, we recognized all the students, faculty, and staff members who had birthdays during April.
In addition, we honored students who gave “Star Performances” during the month. “Star Performances” can be an outstanding effort in the classroom, a kind act to another student, or the achievement of a personal goal. Once a staff member has recorded a student’s Star Performance, the student’s name is thrown into a popcorn bucket. Recently, we have also been reading Star Performances over the intercom each morning at 8:10 a.m. During McAndrew’s monthly assembly, two names are drawn from the popcorn bucket. The two lucky students receive a gift certificate to the Royal Movie Theater in Ainsworth.
This month we recognized students for reading over 100 books at home, for cleaning up the classroom, taking care of the playground equipment, working hard at multiplication facts, earning good grades on Math tests, and many more accomplishments and good deeds.
April winners were Jack A. and Dylan G. Congratulations!
Finally, Miss Wragge led us in singing “Beautiful Nebraska” before we returned to our classrooms.
