The Edgerton Explorit Center from Aurora, Nebraska joined students, teachers, and parents at Ainsworth Community Schools on Monday, August 23rd. The Edgerton Explorit Center is a hands-on science museum, which strives to instill and nurture in all people the joy of scientific discovery and exploration through hands-on learning experiences.
The day began with two assemblies – one for McAndrew Elementary and one for Ainsworth Middle School. During the assembly, the Edgerton staff, John and Ken, thrilled students with demonstrations of science concepts.
During the day, students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade visited the gym and enjoyed the various science “Zones”, which included interactive exhibits, experiments, and hands-on activities.
In the evening, beginning at 6:45 p.m., students shared their excitement with their parents. The Edgerton staff presented a dynamic science show and gave all the participants an opportunity to visit the science “Zones”.
Also, teachers, Kindergarten through 8th grade, were in their rooms prior to the show to meet and greet visiting parents.
This full day program was possible thanks to a private donor, Pamida, and the money we have collected through the BoxTops 4 Education program.
Also, thanks to the following volunteers who helped unload and load the equipment and/or helped supervise the Zones during the day: Hayley Williams, Hunter Martin, Nichole Flynn, Wanda Raymond, Brian Williams, Harv Wewel, Linda Hapner, Judy Hensley, Shane Cole, Brandon Shaul, Wendy Wilkins, Erika Billings, Charity Fay, Christie Gustafson, and Melanie Gudgel.
