Semester 2 - 7th Grade Art Trip

The 3rd and 4th quarter 7th grade art students traveled to Kearney on Tuesday, March 28th to visit the Museum of Nebraska Art. MONA is a museum that is devoted to the promotion of art and artists that have ties to the state of Nebraska.
The students viewed an exhibit titled - Dale Nichols: Nebraska Regionalist. This exhibit featured works by Dale Nichols, a Nebraska native, has a reputation for idyllic winter American farm scenes.
They also saw an installation by Charley Friedman, titled "The New Deal". This installation was a political statement about the masses working together to achieve a common goal.
Currently the museum is featuring an exhibit by Nebraska photographer Joel Sartore. Mr. Sartore is a photographer for National Geographic. The exhibit is titled "National Geographic Photo Ark" and the aim of this project is to bring awareness to rare and endangered species by photographing all species found in captivity throughout the world.
