The Ainsworth Mock Trial team began 2017 competition with victories over the Valentine team during the past two weeks.
On November 1, Ainsworth represented the plaintiff and Valentine, the defendant in a trial in the Rock County Courthouse. Ainsworth won by unanimous decision. On November 8 in the Brown County Courthouse, the teams switched sides, and again, Ainsworth won by a unanimous decision.
This year’s civil case involves an assault charge via electronic device by one college student, Bentley VanderFeller, against another, Jesse Kimball. VanderFeller is accused of sending a video to Kimball that caused him to have an epileptic seizure.
Members of the Ainsworth Mock Trial team are Seniors Cassidy Gilliland, Marley Murphy, and Kayla Witt; Junior Sam Wilkins; Sophomores Coy Carson, Ethan Christensen, and Raven Stewart; and Freshmen Cody Kronhofman and Brandt Murphy.
The next competition between Valentine and Ainsworth will be held in the Cherry County Courthouse on Thursday, November 16, with the trial commencing at 1:30pm.
