AHS Art Classes Tour the Old Feed Store Art Center

The High School Art Classes recently traveled to Bassett, NE to The Old Feed Store Art Center to view a photography exhibit entitled "Photo Ark" by National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore.  Photo Ark is an archive of portraits of birds, fish, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates taken by Joel Sartore.  The aim of the project is to bring awareness to rare and endangered animals by photographing these species found in captivity throughout the world.  Joel Sartore is a National Geographic photographer who lives in Lincoln, NE and travels the world photographing animals.

The Photo Ark is an ARTreach exhibition from the Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA) in Kearney, NE. 
In addition to viewing the Photo Ark exhibit, the students were able to view art work from the collection of Mr. David Gale, who has been instrumental in developing The Old Feed Store Art Center.
The Old Feed Store Art Center in Bassett, NE is a new endeavor that is working to bring art to the rural areas of Nebraska.  The Art Center is located at 104 Clark St. (main street) in Bassett and is open, free to the public, at these times:
  • Monday 4-7 p.m.
  • Wednesday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Friday 4-7 p.m.
  • Saturday 8 a.m.- Noon
