The 46th Annual High Plains Band and Choir Festival was held Feb 5-6, 2018 on the Chadron State College Campus.  To qualify, High School students have to record and submit an audition.  This year, four Ainsworth students were selected.  They were:  Jaycee Dillon; Clarinet, Courtney Lauer; Flute, Tessa Lauer; Trumpet and Josie Ganser; French Horn.  Students from 25 schools in Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming and Colorado participated.  Dr. Michael Knight, newly-appointed Director of Bands at Chadron State College directed the Honor Band.  This year, in addition to the Honor Band and Honor Choir, a Guitar Ensemble and Keyboard Ensemble were added.  Ms. Bejot commented that being able to spend two days intensely working on challenging music is an unforgettable experience.    There is always a tremendous increase in the students’ depth of knowledge and playing ability.  Their confidence soars and they come back to their own bands with a greater appreciation for excellence.
