Lewis and Clark Presentation
Tuesday, May 8, 2018 was an exciting day for the 7th grade Social Studies students at Ainsworth Community Schools! Renae Hunt from Humanities Nebraska came to school in costume and presented a program on the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Renae discussed four valuable members of the expedition who were not paid for their contributions. She discussed and told stories of Sacagawea (a Native American woman), Seaman (the Newfoundland dog), York (the only African American on the expedition), and Pomp (Sacagawea's baby son). This presentation took us beyond the information in our text books and provided the students with a more complete understanding of the Lewis and Clark expedition. We are thankful to have speakers like Renae come to our school and share their knowledge.
