7th Grade Art Students Travel to MONA
On Tuesday, October 23, 2018, the 7th grade students who are in an Art class during the 1st semester traveled to Kearney, NE to visit the Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA). While at the museum students participated in a Visual Thinking Strategy while viewing a selected artwork. Students were asked to tell what they saw and their interpretation of what they saw.
The students also were able to view exhibitions of work by Kent Bellows, who created pencil drawings and paintings using egg tempera and Olga Stepanek, an experimental artist who created metal collages from objects that were considered useless.
The exhibit in the main hall was titled "Adornment" and the students were able to see how individuals and communities clothe, embellish, or alter their appearances through creative thought and artistic practices.
