January Hallway Assembly
...elementary students recognized for birthdays and star performances

Once each month the McAndrew Elementary students, faculty, and staff gather in the hallway for an all-school assembly.  At the assembly, we recognize all the people who had birthdays during that month.  Friday, January 29, 2010, we recognized everyone who celebrated a January birthday.

In addition to celebrating birthdays, we honor students who gave “Star Performances” during the month.  “Star Performances” can be an outstanding effort in the classroom, a kind act to another student, or the achievement of a personal goal.  Once a staff member has recorded a student’s Star Performance, the student’s name is thrown into a popcorn bucket.  During McAndrew’s monthly assembly, Mrs. Williams draws two names from the popcorn bucket. Those two lucky students receive a gift certificate to the Royal Movie Theater in Ainsworth.  

This month’s winners were Mikki and Cameron.
