Dear ACS Stakeholders,
LB 140, which passed during the 2025 legislative session, pertains to the use of electronic devices in schools. We are in the process of updating our Board Policy and handbook procedures related to the use of cell phones or personal electronic devices while at school.
Currently, our policy prohibits students in grades K-4 from having cell phones at any time during the school day. Additionally, we will require students in grades 5-8 to check in their phones in the morning and retrieve them at the end of the school day. Last, students in grades 9-12 are not allowed to use their phones or personal devices during class time or as otherwise directed. However, they may access their device during passing periods and lunchtime.
