On Wednesday, April 22nd, 28 8th graders attended a Career Exploration Day and College Visit to Northeast Community College in Norfolk. Our morning was filled with activities to explore our interests and abilities and see how that ties back to possible career options and the education required for those careers. We also completed a budgeting activity where some students are ready for adulting, and some need to shore things up a bit! :) We then had lunch at Hawks Point Dining Hall and had a quick tour of campus. A full day!

On Wednesday, April 22nd, the sixth graders went on a field trip to Keller State Park to release their Trout in the Classroom fish, and go fishing. The instructor from Nebraska Game and Parks was impressed with how well our students remembered what they had been taught in the unit. It was a fun morning!

Our kindergarten students have been strengthening their “superpowers” of being a good friend, using perspective taking skills, a helpful teammate, a strong listener, and making positive-thoughtful choices. Throughout this quarter, they have participated in social thinking lessons using the What Would Danny Do? books. This month, our kindergarteners have been practicing and using their Power to Choose every day! Here are some of Super Friends!

On Wednesday, April 8, 25 students from the Ainsworth Community Schools Art Club participated in a day of service and creativity at the Ainsworth Care Center. The students walked to the facility in the morning and spent the day painting a total of 25 windows for residents and staff.
Throughout the visit, students engaged with residents from outside their windows, creating a meaningful and interactive experience. Each window was thoughtfully designed to reflect the individual preferences and personalities of the residents, resulting in a variety of unique and personalized displays.
Following the event, the Care Center shared photos of the painted windows on it’s Facebook page, inviting community members to vote for their favorites. The online engagement provided an additional opportunity for the community to celebrate the students’ work.
This event marks the eighth time the ACS Art Club has collaborated with the Ainsworth Care Center on this project. The ongoing partnership continues to provide a valuable opportunity for students to connect with members of the community while sharing their artistic talents.
